Website Tips
1.Dont have to many effects and such on your texts. Effects are great, and make your site look nice, but usually, once you get into HTML, you tend to go over the top with all of the effects. Remember, that for people with slower computers, these effects take alot of time to load, and most of the time, if a site takes a long time to load, people just close it.
2.Crowding your site with glitter graphics is not a good look. I used to have a website full of glitter graphics, and at the time, I thought it was just the done thing. It may've been then, but now it definitely isnt. If you want a proffesional looking website, lay off the glitters, unless you've made them, they're coded, so that your visitors can use them, and they're organized.
3. Be Original. One of the most important rules of website design. No one want to see a website thats just the same as the last one they visited. They want to see new things. Make up your own ideas, dont just go and copy other peoples ideas, or people will just think 'Ugh, Just another un-original.' and click the big red 'X' button.
4.Dont swear on your website. It makes you look unproffesional, and also, people who dont like swearing will just exit the screen. Also, theres the matter of 'web blockers'. You've probably heard of them. They're programs that track what youre doing on your computer, and if they find a site 'innapropriate' they'll block the site. Swearing is considered 'innapropriate' to web blockers. They're usually put on by parents who dont want their kids to be looking at all of the rude stuff on the internet these days.
5.DoNt WRiTe lIkE tHiS. Its hard to read, and hard to understand. Also, no one wants you 'wrting lyke dis.' please don't write like that.
6.Dont make the colour of the writing clash with the layout, no one wants to have to highlight text on your site to read it!
7.It'd be alot better if you got rid of the I-frames nowadays. I-frames used to be fine, but divs are much better. Frames might be easier to start with, but divs are alot easier to load, and navigate in. Also, search engines have a hard time listing websites that are in i-frames.
8. Always have a tagboard, update box, forum, guestbook or something else that visitors can take part in. Contests and a 'Your Say' section are always popular with users.
9. Try as hard as you can on your layouts. Most people, including me, judge a site by its layout, but if they see a layout that has the frames all over the place and clashing colours, etc etc, they usually will assume that your content is the same quality as your layout.
10.Put as much content as you can on your website. Make sure its high quality content though.
I hope this Helped! Please link back if so!
