Making a brush
First, make your brush. You can pixel it out, use other images, etc etc. Crop exactly around your brush, so that there are no extra spaces. Now, press CTRL + A. This should select the graphic, so the graphic should have 'marching ants' around it, like below.
Go to your brushes, and press this button - . It should now come up with a small screen. For directions on what to do now, look at the picture below.
You should now be able to use this brush! =)
