Outlining images

First, open up your image in paint shop pro 9. I'm going to be using a doll that I have.

The image that I outline in this tutorial

Now, make a new image by going to File-->New. Set the canvas to a raster background, and make sure that it has 16 million colours. Make the background colour of the canvas the colour that you want your image to be outlined with. Make sure the size of the canvas is bigger than your image.

Making a new image

Right click on your image, and press 'Copy' then go back to your blank (but coloured) canvas. and right click, go down to 'Paste' then go to 'Paste as new selection', then click anywhere on the canvas where you want your image to go. Make sure that there are at least a few pixels of the canvas colour surrounding the image.

The image should now be surrounded in black and white dashes that are moving (These are usually called marching ants. Don't worry, these don't show up when the image is saved.

No, go up to the top of the screen, and go to 'Selections--> Modify--> Expand' and it will come up with a screen like the one below.

Outlining your image

Okay, so, see where it says 'Number of pixels', Then there's a box next to it? In that box, write how many pixels you want to outline your image with. Say I wanted 4 pixels around my image, than I'd type '4' in that box. Now, there are two boxes with your image that you're outlining in it, the first box is what it looked like before, the second box is what it will look like if you click ok. Its as simple as that. So, click ok, then...

The marching ants around your image should've expanded a little bit, but its most likely not to noticeable. Okay, so, now that you have an outline around your image, right click it, and press 'Copy' then, go up to 'Edit--> Paste--> Paste as a new image' then save (File--> Save) and you're done! Congrats!

I hope this Helped! Please link back if so!
